Last night, I made a chocolate fudge cake to this recipe (but substituting most of the flour for ground almonds because I like them). While the cakes were cooling I went rowing, so no getting impatient and taking them out of their tins early!
Decorated with a marshmallow duck (of course)!
On the subject of food, Sarah on Chertsey posted a link to a wonderful article by Di Murrell (which won the Sophie Coe prize in Food History 2012, awarded by the Oxford Symposium on Food & Cookery) about how the working boatmen and their families ate. Really very interesting, and well worth a read. Her blog, about travelling the waterways of Europe, is here.
